Regret

Random Topic: Is there anything you regret?

If there was one thing he regretting, then it was that fateful night on November 2, 1978. His life before then had been simple, great. He was living day to day with no worries about the past or future. Life was wonderful. He was perfectly content with his position in the world. But, on November 2 that year, dread filled him. He knew that day was coming and that there was nothing that he could do to stop it. On this planet everybody has the day of dread happen to them. Today was his day. Tomorrow he would not be the same. Tomorrow he would be 40 years old.

Phobia

Random Topic: Write about a phobia

He didn't know what he was doing. There were lines in every direction. It didn't make any sense. The teacher said it was easy, but that didn't help. His friends said it was easy, but that just made it worse. Here he was, fighting for his life. This moment would decide his entire future, if he had one at all. One wrong move, one wrong line, and it could all be over. He never felt so much pressure before. Should he choose the one on the left, or the one on the right? Everybody was watching. He could feel the gaze of the entire world baring down on him. What was he to do? He drew a circle in the top-left corner. There, it was done. With this one move, he would finally be able to force a win in Tic-Tac-Toe.

Bedroom

Random Topic: Describe your bedroom in detail

There is a dark room that I am confined to every night. There is never any natural light and I don't get any food even if I spend most of my day there. I can stretch my arms out and almost touch the walls on both sides. The room is minimalist. There is a small bed on the floor and a shelf along one of the walls. Some may call it a prison, but I don't like seeing it that way. It's just a bedroom.

Senses

Random Topic: Describe your favorite place using all five senses

Oh, the joy the sight. I use it all the time and yet take it for granted. With sight, I know of the vast array of colors and can know distances. With hearing, I can enjoy lovely melodies and voices of friends and family. With touch, I know of cool breezes, warmth of sunshine, and softness of tender flattery. With smell, I can remember a person or place and be comforted by just the mere presence. With taste, I know of the simple pleasantries of foods that I eat everyday.

Life

Random Topic: Who has changed your life, and how?

For over 47 years there have been changes in my life. Things change every single day, week, and year. That's been the main constant over the years, things change. Who cares what happened last week, when this week is going to be entirely different. I'm not sure that there was just one person who has changed my life. But, as I think about it more, my friend Pi seems to have always been at my side. Through everything, we've always had each other's back. Pi is an illustrious breed of platypus from a small town in Australia, whereas I am from the opposite side of the world, the biggest town in Greenland. I'm not even sure how we met anymore, it's been so long.

Obituary

Random Topic: Write your obituary.

Some thought that Alex was homeless. But, really, the world was her home. She never stayed in one place for too long, and that's the way she like it. Alex loved everything there is about the world, especially the people. Every town that she wandered into appreciated her work. Nobody did any studies about her work, but we know crime rates fell and more people started enjoying life again because of her. It's hard to measure, but that doesn't matter. We all owe her a great amount of respect. She was a decent, nice person with more care for others' well-being, way more than her own. She's gone to another place now. She would not want us to be sad. Alex probably would have written a few jokes if she knew her time here was up.

One Word Per Week: Hyperborean

Well, according to the website, hyperborean means "Of or pertaining to the region beyond the North wind or to its inhabitants". I wasn't expecting this blog to be a vocabulary lesson for me. I guess hyper- in this case means to extend. And -borean has something to do about the wind. That suffix or root (whatever it is) does seem familiar. There another more common word that uses it...

I can't think of it now. After I'm done writing I will search for it. Maybe it has something to do with those northern lights caused by the radiation from the sun.

The first I thought of when seeing this word was "boolean" perhaps because I am a computer engineer. And before today, I'm pretty sure that I haven't heard of hyperborean at all.

Hyper-bowling
Hyper-boring
Hyper-borat
Hyper-bole
Hyper-bean
Hyper-beam
Hyper-Korean

...just some other words that come to the top of my head just by looking at the word.
