One Word Per Week: Hyperborean

Well, according to the website, hyperborean means "Of or pertaining to the region beyond the North wind or to its inhabitants". I wasn't expecting this blog to be a vocabulary lesson for me. I guess hyper- in this case means to extend. And -borean has something to do about the wind. That suffix or root (whatever it is) does seem familiar. There another more common word that uses it...

I can't think of it now. After I'm done writing I will search for it. Maybe it has something to do with those northern lights caused by the radiation from the sun.

The first I thought of when seeing this word was "boolean" perhaps because I am a computer engineer. And before today, I'm pretty sure that I haven't heard of hyperborean at all.

Hyper-bowling
Hyper-boring
Hyper-borat
Hyper-bole
Hyper-bean
Hyper-beam
Hyper-Korean

...just some other words that come to the top of my head just by looking at the word.

Initial Commit

So, this blog will be all about me just trying to do more freewriting, so that I may get better at writing and typing (also, I really like the sound this keyboard makes). Originally, I was going to call this "A Word A Day", but that was taken. So, "One Word Per Week" will have to do.

In order to release creativity, I will be constraining myself a little bit on what I write.

About this idea... I will use a random word generator for each of my posts and just start freewriting. The entire post may be about the word, or I may follow a long rabbit whole. Another constraint that I just thought of now is that I don't really want to take more than five minutes writing each of the posts, well, maybe unless it is going really well, then I will just keep writing many run on sentences. I do not plan to reread every word once I am done writing, so there will be punctual and grammatical mistakes sprinkling the paragraphs. Now, I just have to remember to find myself a timer before I do each of these posts or I most certainly will take more than five minutes. Most of the posts I make in my other blogs take AT LEAST ten to fifteen minutes to write. Many of them take thirty minutes. Some have even taken a few hours to write, especially the long tutorials and research topics. And when I release my fingers upon this world, the results are always amazing. lol. One of my constraints is not going to be proper English.

At times I may write more than one word per week, but I'm sure eventually things will average out to one word per week or possibly even less.

An interesting note, maybe, the way I type these words is the way my brain is thinking. A lot of times verbs, adjectives, and adverbs will be reordered from traditional American or English because I was taught Japanese at a very young age and it comes very natural to me. Basically, Japanese is spoken in the format that Yoda uses: subject -> object -> verb. Ex: I pizza ate.
Another interesting note, the Japanese language doesn't distinguish between singular and plural words. Also, there are no articles like "the", "a", and "an".

Seven minutes? Idk.

ps - I just found the website that I will be using to find my random word per week. I have no idea how it is going to go. http://www.wordgenerator.net/random-word-generator.php. Not off to a good start because the word was "uncalm". Good thing I'm not starting today.
